Looks like she used the "Rapunzel" spell to grow her hair wildly. I have 82 spells in my fan-fics and that's one of them.(spells that were used,named or implied. I also have 6 potions and many artifacts.)

(No, I didn't do any fan-fics on Brave, having not seen the film because of the story, but ...)
